The Audit Authority function of the ESPON 2013 Programme is ensured by the Inspection General des Finances (IGF) of the Ministry of Finance of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The Audit Authority is responsible for all tasks related to ensure that the audits of the ESPON 2013 Programme are carried out correctly as listed in Article 62 of the Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006.

The Audit Authority is independent from the Managing Authority, the Certifying Authority and from any beneficiaries and/or bodies or services in charge of verifications according to Article 60(b) of Regulation 1083/2006.

IGF in its role of Audit Authority is supported by a Group of Auditors (GoA) according to the provisions of the Rules of Procedures of the ESPON 2013 GoA adopted on the 18 March 2008 and in accordance with article 14 of Regulation (Ec) No 1080/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 July 2006. GoA is composed of up to two representatives from relevant authorities of all Member States and Partner States participating in the ESPON 2013 programme.
