• Seminar in Bordeaux - French EU Presidency

    The first seminar under the ESPON 2013 Programme that addressed the progress of ongoing projects took place in Bordeaux - France, during the French EU Presidency and in the presence of Bernard Dussaut, Conseil Général de la Gironde, Didier Michal, DIACT in France, Kamila Matoušková, Czech Ministry for Regional Development which will preside over the EU Presidency in January 2009 and Philippe Monfort, European Commission DG Regio.

    The seminar included Monitoring Committee members, the Managing Authority of the ESPON Programme the Ministry of the Interior and for Spatial Development of Luxembourg, the ESPON Contact Point Network, project partners from ongoing ESPON projects as well as several stakeholders involved in the new projects using ESPON results.

    During the seminar, plenary sessions provided for inspiration and a debate on demands for, expectations towards and potential use of results from the ESPON 2013 Programme. The seminar focused in 3 sessions on new preliminary results and included detailed discussions on further progress during a mix of plenary session and workshops. The achievements so far of 5 applied research projects were presented. The ESPON 2013 Database project explained their ambitious and progress as a base for future ESPON projects and met the project Lead Partners in order to coordinate a smooth data development within the ESPON 2013 Programme.
    3 Workshops addressed the new type of user driven projects together with stakeholders providing Targeted Analysis based on ESPON results.

    In the concluding session policy makers, practitioners and scientists shared views on demands for information, evidence and knowledge that the ESPON 2013 Programme should consider.
