Open Seminar “ESPON Evidence for Regional Policy-Making” - Contributing to the Europe 2020 Strategy
ESPON invites for a two days Open Seminar on “ESPON Evidence for Regional Policy-Making”. The Seminar is organised in cooperation with the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, and takes place in Madrid - Alcalá de Henares on 9 and 10 June 2010.
The Seminar will address the use of ESPON results in policy-making in support of competitiveness and cohesion of territories. Its purpose is three-fold:
- Nourish the necessary discussion and understanding of the territorial dimension of the new Europe 2020 Strategy;
- Demonstrate the added value and suggest practical use of European wide ESPON knowledge in policy making, particular at regional level;
- Discuss best practices and room for improvements in disseminating and communicating ESPON project results to policy makers ranging from local/regional level to European level.

Who should participate?
The seminar is open for all interested people and will in particular welcome a mix of policy makers and scientists from Europe and neighbouring countries to a maximum of 250 participants.
The seminar is free of charge but each participant has to cover expenses for own travel arrangements and accommodation.
