EATIA - ESPON and Territorial Impact Assessment
Main areas of analysis
- Evaluating how the assessment of territorial impacts of European (sector) policies can be addressed within policymaking in EU Member States.
- Exploring the concrete needs at national and regional level in terms of TIA.
- Indicating the possibilities for implementing TIA within EU Member States and creating a knowledge transfer on TIA to the regional and local level in the contexts of Portugal, Slovenia and the United Kingdom.
Main results envisaged
The project will consist of an analytical track and an interactive learning track running parallel and complimenting each other. The analytical track is expected to deliver:
- An overview of existing TIA methods developed by EU Member States, by the European Commission as well as within the ESPON 2006 and 2013 programmes.
- An evaluation of existing methods and tools for TIA.
- An exploration of technical potentials for the implementation of TIA methods.
- Recommendations for implementing TIA in practice.
The projects interactive track will include:
- Organising interactive learning sessions intended to transmit project findings.
- Establishing a national learning network in each of the stakeholder countries.
- Assessing available methods and tools and defining a common understanding on methods and tools that can be shared.
