6 December 2017 - 8:00am to 7 December 2017 - 1:00pm

Is your city ready to fully embrace the benefits of digital public services? How can marginalized communities embark on this paradigm shift? This ESPON seminar seeks to examine territorial developments in the context of digital transition. A number of cities have been actively engaging in the modernisation and re-engineering of public services and have seen high returns through simplified governance. Yet, the digital transition is not a walkover. Cities need to re-think governance, re-skill the human capital and re-design legislation. We invite you to discover the ways how local communities capitalize on the digital age through ICT-based governance. The seminar will, furthermore, outline the pathway towards the post-2020 Territorial Agenda and share the themes of the Bulgarian and Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Seminar will take place in Tallinn (Estonia), on 6-7 December 2017. The event is organised in cooperation with the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the framework of the ESPON Cooperation Programme.

Target Groups

A warm welcome is extended to policy makers, practitioners, researchers and other experts, who need evidence in the context of digitalization of public services. The maximum capacity of the seminar is 250 participants. It is free of charge but each participant has to cover expenses for their own travel arrangements and accommodation.
