Do you take your vacations on an island, a mountain or a north sparsely populated area? How is it to leave there on a permanent basis? What particular challenges and assets these territories have and how EU policies enable them to exploit their natural and human potential fully. What is the role of Cohesion Policy? Regions with specific territorial features have received increasing attention in recent years, most notably in article 174 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) that implies opting for solutions that are a bit different from those chosen in a mainstream regions.
