The “Future perspectives for all people and places” seminar is the first seminar organised by the ESPON Contactpoint in Latvia – the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MoEPRD).

The seminar will cover the future perspectives of:

  • Latvian cities through exploration of the ESPON METRO project and the use of results in governance of Riga and its metropolitan area,
  • The Baltic Sea and its coast in Latvia through a look back at the ESPON BT2050 project and reflections on the experience of integrating the project results and acting on them in the VASAB Vision 2040,
  • Green infrastructure network creation in Latvia on the basis of ESPON GRETA Latvian case study and the use of ESPON knowledge to prepare for drafting greening plans.

The aim of the seminar is to exhibit ESPON evidence that is relevant at all territorial governance levels currently and to inspire further result uptake by showing examples and providing a platform for various stakeholders to engage.

The event will take place on 3 November 2023, in Riga, Peldu iela 25, Room 409, its formal part starts at 9:00 and will continue until 14:50. However, the MoEPRD welcomes all participants to gather for informal networking after the official end of the seminar until 16:00!

The event will be held entirely in-person and in Latvian. Registrations are open until the end of day 25th of October -you can register here
