During the event, experts will present three of the latest ESPON program documents based on one of the eight ESPON thematic action plans - "Perspective for all people and places," which are either already prepared or will be completed by 2025:
- In January 2025 copleted targeted analysis RURALPLAN - Innovative planning in shrinking societies), will be presented by author, Ulla Higdem, Professor at the University of Inland Norway
- In March 2025 completed targeted analysis HERMES - Material cultural heritage satellite account – methodological framework, will be presented by its co-author Alessandra Gandini, Ph.D., Senior Researcher at Tecnalia Research Centre.
- The highly significant European research project HOUSE4ALL - Access to affordable and quality housing for all people,, expected to be completed in September 2025, will be presented by one of its authors, Selim Banabak, Ph.D., Vienna University of Technology reseracher.
Lithuanian representatives will join the ESPON experts: Mindaugas Pakalnis, Head of the Construction Sector Development Agency (SSVA) division, Klaipeda University researcher Dr. Tomas Šarūnas, and Guoda Bardauskaitė, co-founder of the "Miško uostas" community. Speakers will discuss shrinking Lithuanian cities, their current situation, and existing or planned policy strategies. They will review the impact of urban areas and living environments on human well-being from a social and cultural perspective. Representatives of innovative, proactive, and active communities in Lithuania will share their experiences of creating their living environment in shrinking territories.
