Meeting the challenge of achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, requires reliable, universal and systematic mechanisms to monitor and report on its implementation. Local and Regional Governments (LRGs) play a crucial role in this process, as territorial indicators and disaggregated data are essential to improve government capacity at all levels. The session aims to revise what are the methodologies and approaches for LRGs to develop comprehensive, participatory and integrated monitoring and reporting systems to support the elaboration of public policies, and consequently, the localization of the SDGs.

ESPON will contribute with the recently kicked-off tool "SDG localising tool: Localising and measuring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in cities and regions".
