ESPON at the RSA Annual International Conference, May 2010

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) aims at promoting education in the field of regional studies, stimulating and aiding studies and research into regional planning, development and functions.

At its Annual Conference 2010 in Pécs-Hungary, on 24, 25 and 26 May, RSA invited ESPON to organise workshop sessions.

The theme of this Conference was “Regional Responses and Global Shifts: Actors, Institutions and Organisations”. The conference was visited by more than 600 people in the field of regional studies, ranging from academics, students, practitioners, policymakers to interested lay people.

The following three ESPON projects have been presenting and discussing their scientific results with about 45 participants:

  • EDORA: Dispelling ‘Stylised Fallacies’ and ‘Turning Diversity into Strength’ by Andrew Copus, UHI Millennium Institute, UK, Lead Partner of ESPON EDORA Project.
  • FOCI: Territorial competitiveness and cohesion: Development paths of cities and urban agglomerations by Moritz Lennert, Free University of Brussels, Belgium Lead Partner of ESPON FOCI Project.
  • ReRisk: Territorial Competitiveness and Cohesion: The Effects of Rising Energy Prices by Oihana Blanco Mendizabal, Innobasque, Spain, Lead Partner of ESPON ReRISK Project.

The papers and the discussions on these papers will be incorporated in the first Scientific Report of the ESPON 2013 Programme.
