Workshop “Territorial Dimensions of the Europe 2020 Strategy”

Brussels, 30 September 2013 - This workshop is jointly organised by ESPON, the Mission of Norway to the EU, West and South Norway Regional Offices in Brussels. The territorial dimension of the Europe 2020 Strategy and contribution of regions to reach its headline targets will be addressed.

The ESPON Atlas on the “Territorial Dimensions of the Europe 2020 Strategy” will be the basis for the workshop. It provides new evidence on the position of the European regions in relation to the policy targets set allowing for benchmarking among regions in Europe. This new evidence is an important input for the discussion and debate among policy makers on how regions can support in the best possible way the objectives of Europe 2020 Strategy.

A round table discussion involving key policy-makers at European and regional levels will inform on their perceptions, ambitions and expectations with regard to the implementation and possible contribution of European regions to the Union’s growth strategy until 2020. It will also give the opportunity to discuss place-based policy options for the elaboration of territorial development strategies.

The registration for the Workshop is open until 25 September 2013 at 15h00. More
