Update on Accessibility Maps

In the context of the ESPON project 1.2.1 on 'Transport services and networks' potential accessibility indicators reflecting the situation in year 2001 was developed. These indicators have been very valuable and relevant for various policy discussions. This is also illustrated by their use in several ESPON projects, and in ESPON and European Commission publications.

As the transport infrastructure develops rapidly in large parts of Europe, an update of selected accessibility indicators was necessary. The report presents potential accessibility by road and rail in 2006 as well as information on the change of accessibility between 2001 and 2006.
