Research and Policy Manager
ESPON EGTC is recruiting a Research and Policy Manager to plan and implement research projects and knowledge transfer activities.
Please note that the date of 28 February 2025 represents a cut-off date for applications, and this call will remain open until a candidate is selected.
Description of the work
You will be responsible for the management of the entire life cycle of research projects implemented by the ESPON EGTC (mainly territorial studies, but this could also cover territorial foresight, data and policy analyses…):
- Preparing calls for tenders in cooperation with related colleagues within the EGTC: scoping the objectives and expected outputs of research projects, drafting terms of reference, selecting research teams as outcome of the tendering process;
- Steering the implementation of research projects: managing the relationship with the research teams and the external stakeholders involved (representatives of Member States, of local authorities, of EU institutions…), assessing deliverables from the projects and providing feedback to the researchers;
- Ensuring the promotion and transfer of research findings with related colleagues within the EGTC and outside (ESPON Contact Points, service providers, stakeholders at all levels and other external partners). This mainly includes organising and/or participating in dissemination events towards policy makers in Europe.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director responsible for Research and Policy, you will also contribute to the development of ESPON thematic action plans and other horizontal research activities by providing high quality analysis in the field of territorial policies.
Profile and experience
You hold an advanced university degree in spatial/urban planning, territorial development, European studies, regional economics or other related fields of study.
You can demonstrate professional experience related to territorial policies, regional development and/or spatial planning, preferably for public administrations, research centres or consulting companies.
Experience in quantitative data analysis or in GIS (preferably ESRI tools), albeit not mandatory would be considered as an advantage.
You exhibit high proficiency in English language to communicate ESPON in policy and academic contexts, and promote the use of ESPON at different administrative levels
