The trade relationship between the European Union (EU) and Chile has long been a cornerstone of economic cooperation between Europe and Latin America. In fact, Chile was the first Latin American country to sign an Association Agreement with the EU in 2002, and their trade has steadily grown under preferential access. This makes Chile an influential partner in the EU–Latin America trade framework and a subject worthy of further analysis.

This policy report, part of the Strategic Autonomy Rules for Trade in European Regions [STARTER], provides a detailed analysis of the trade pillar of the EU–Mercosur partnership agreement, which was reached in December 2024. It uses a combination of qualitative insights and quantitative modelling to evaluate the anticipated impact on European regions.

Info Day ESPON 2030 in Venice
On the 5th of June 2025 at the Sala Polifunzionale of the Palazzo della Regione in Venice, took place the event ‘Quali Opportunità per i Territori’, organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, as the National Contact Point of the ESPON 2030 Program, together with the Lombardy Region and the Veneto Region.
